Why Omega 3 is Not the Solution

Most people believe that they are not getting enough omega 3. This is actually not true. So, why is everybody so concerned with not getting enough omega 3 then?

The problem is that omega 3 is the name of a whole family of fatty acids, which are all very different from each other and in no way created equal.

It is actually a bit complex, so here is what you need to know. There are two fatty acids you should care about — EPA and DHA — because those are the “good” fatty acids. These two fatty acids are fascinating because they play an important role in many of your body’s internal processes.

It is these two acids that can reduce inflammation, support cognitive functioning and lower cholesterol. This is where it gets interesting because the average male in the U.S. may get more than enough omega 3 each day; but not enough of it is EPA and DHA. That means that out of all the omega 3 he is consuming, only a very minimal percentage is the good fatty acids.

What does that mean? It means that yes, you are likely getting enough total omega 3, but you are not getting enough of the good ones, which is why supplements like fish oil are so amazing, because good fish oils are rich with EPA and DHA. Next time you are out looking for omega 3, make sure to check how much EPA and DHA there is in it.

If you want to get a good dosage, you should get at least 2000 mg of EPA and DHA each day. Don’t just look for total omega 3, because you may not get the benefits you want. You need to examine it a little closer.

Puori O3 contains fish oil derived only from wild-caught anchovies. These fish are the fatty fish lowest in the food chain, meaning low accumulation of toxins. The oil is purified and concentrated to provide a high dose of EPA and DHA and no toxins. Learn More
